Let's focus on addressing things instead of allowing distractions to destroy Nigeria.

It's crazy how certain people like Bobrisky, VDM, Portable, Mohbad's wife, Tonto Dikeh, Daddy Freeze and Nathaniel Bassey have become the centre of attention and discussion. I think the Nigerian government might be doing some things right, too. People have stopped constantly criticizing the government. Should I say that President Tinubu regime is doing something great? Everyone is so consumed that we don't even talk about or leave room for the upcoming generation to learn from or emulate. Everyone's committing online nuisance. Let's focus on things we need to address instead of allowing distractions to destroy Nigeria.

Do you remember the 276 schoolgirls kidnapped in the Chibok community? April 14 marks 10 years since that tragic event. Does anyone know how they are doing now? What about their mental states after such a horrifying incident? Consider the impact on the families and friends of those girls. Though 2014 may seem distant, we're now in 2024, consumed by matters that only harm Nigeria's image worldwide. Did you know that kidnapping of young ones is still on the rise? Instead of being constantly online focusing on things that tarnish the country's image, let's concentrate on initiatives that benefit the youth. So, considering our current trajectory, how do you envision Nigeria in the next 10 years?

Do you remember or even know the name 'Ameyo Stella Adadevoh'? I'm sure some Gen Z would use Google to understand that name. She and some other health workers lost their lives for Nigerians to come online and rant with no purpose other than oppressing others to feel lesser of themselves. In a few months, it will be 10 years since Ebola took so many souls and reshaped countless families. Let's use this year to create awareness and value those heroes who gave us the chance to express ourselves without worry. Even though a Liberian American shouldn't have been allowed on the plane, my point is to remind us of where we're coming from and to focus on something great instead of debating on the wrong issues that won't benefit us in the future.

If you look at today's trends in Nigeria, what do you think will be talked about in the next decade? Many would say not to worry about the future, and in your silent mind, you're right. But what if the future catches up so quickly that you find yourself without purpose or value? It's never too late to start making a positive impact. Figures like Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, Burna Boy, and others are creating a history that most people won't take the time to notice. You might not be as influential as them, but they wouldn't be valued without you and me. So, let's learn to value the right things online, not the BS. If you remember anything significant from 2014 that the country needs to know, add it to this thread.

Afàméfùnà: An Nwa-Boi Story” showcases cinematic glimpse of the aftermath of the civil war in Nigeria

Afàméfùnà: An Nwa-Boi Story” is a mixed story showcasing three things: Igbo individuals experiencing relocation from Igboland to Yorubaland to hustle, shedding light on the misconception among Yoruba in Lagos that all Igbos in Lagos are the same. This movie also showcases integrity, cowardice, and a glimpse of the aftermath of the civil war in Nigeria. It portrays the aspirations of many boys working for their bosses with happiness and joy, dreaming of owning their businesses someday. A surprising aspect was the writer's mention in the Harvard Business Review about "Stakeholder capitalism." The revelation about the significance of 20 pounds was shocking. Check out the review for further insights into why many Igbo boys are loyal to their bosses in the Lagos market.

Watching opened my eyes to why Igbo people will always be the best in doing business in Nigeria. Should I say our culture has created a lot of hostility among each other? Go and watch the movie, business It's in their DNA; they are born, raised, and taught what business means. Even though crooks have tarnished the image in a way that people find it hard to want to do business with Igbo people, Afam was a good example in this movie. It showcased that when you put all your mind into doing right, favour might find you before you are ready. Around 8 minutes into the movie, the officer stereotyped Afam by saying “flying jet showing money on IG big boy.” Does all this mean someone is doing illegal activities? Like the movie was letting us know how the police presume anyone of such a lifestyle is…

Odogwu's way of handling business and explaining things to Afam showed me a lot about Igbos that I had never imagined. It's all about understanding the business, not just making money. Another statement that struck me in the movie was, “When you marry a monkey for his money when the money finishes, you will have to deal with the monkey.” Another one was, “In Igbo tradition, women do not serve a master.” But let's give it to the Igbo people; their mouths are too sweet, and they will finesse you into buying what you don't plan to buy. I respect them. It's the first Igbo movie I’ve watched, and I don't even remember it's an Igbo movie. I love how they blend both Igbo, Pidgin, and clean English.

My best acts are the younger versions of Paulo, Afam, and Obum. That scene at 39 minutes, at first, I didn't understand it, but after watching the movie a little bit further, everything made sense. Paulo is an example of waiting for that day, while Grace used Afam to overtake. A man like Afam is rare, not because he can't produce good sperm to bear his child, but because he stood by a friend who wasn't planning on changing. There were so many lapses in the mature characters of Amaka, Afam, and Paulo, but the storyline was captivating. I didn't give too much thought to the bad, unfinished scripted scenes that I don't think were needed. If you want to understand why some boys will spend a few years and have their own big business while some will use many years but never graduate, go and watch this movie. Nigerian movie writers are stepping up in their stories lately. I will give the movie a 7/10.

Ugoccie - Voice Of The East EP

Ugoccie has swiftly unveiled her sophomore EP, aptly titled “Voice of the East” (VOTE). The new release comes after her debut EP “Piece Of Me” which provides a fascinating look into the thrilling and wide-ranging future of her career and exceptional talent

Ugoccie, emerging as a force in the Nigerian music industry and gaining recognition and captivating the culturally appealing soundscape scored a great point from the choice of the title, “Voice of the East” (VOTE) EP, as a deliberate nod to her self-ascribed identity to unleash the power of the East through the EP.

Artwork

This EP, just like her debut, demonstrates her artistic prowess and once again exhibits her distinctive musical identity that projects and extols praises of the richness of African culture, particularly the eastern part of Nigeria.

VOTE EP is an impressive collection of five tracks, each crafted precisely. Ugoccie continues to impress her audience with her unique sound and compelling lyrics. The EP also features noteworthy guest appearances from Onitsha-born siblings Umu Obiligbo adding an extra layer of brilliance to the project with the kind of production provided by Endeetones (Beatlord)

Tracklist

Tracks Synopsis

ISIMGBAKA

ISIMGBAKA in Igbo means madness or someone who is not mentally okay. The song Isimgbaka starts off the VOICE OF THE EAST EP with a story of betrayal and how life always comes back at people who want to hurt others who have been nothing but good to them. It tells the story of a hustler who kept sending money home to her family but never got value for all the money she sent.

The moral of isimgbaka is never to hurt someone who has done you good. Only a mad person would do that

ỤWA feat. Umuobiligbo

The chorus of Ụwa is born from an ancient Igbo folklore that depicts that we are all beautiful in our own way and that no one should take the world's opinions seriously as people will always have something to say.

Ugochi and Umuobiligbo came together to create a masterpiece that would leave every listener glued from start to finish.

Ụwa means “world” in Igbo and the title is honed from the fact that the world will never be satisfied with whatever you do. Do you at the end of the day

ỌGỌ M

Ọgọ in Igbo means “kindness” or “charity” depending on the context and in this track, ugochi details how we live in a world where people have no conscience and would most likely repay an act of kindness with insubordination or wickedness.

A popular Igbo adage says “ọgọ m, egbuna m” which translates to “may my kindness not kill me”.

This is basically all Ugochi says in the song.

That our kind deeds will not be the end of us.

A masterpiece

EZI ENYI

Ezi Enyi in Igbo means (good friend)

In this story, Ugochi tells the story of how her friend tried to take a man that she loves from her which is very typical in the world that we live in. Every melody resonates with the listener for this particular one.

MARANMA

In Igbo land when things are good, we say “Ife Nile mara nma”. Which means that Things are going smoothly in essence. To crown this beautiful storytelling in her VOICE OF THE EAST EP, Ugoccie fuses amampiano with the Igbo flute to conjure this dance hall vibe that would still leave you rooted in the culture but swaying your hips in endless bliss. Maranma is the jam that takes you to the club after a long day of stress

Note: all the songs in Voice of the East ep have Igbo titles. Ugochi came all out for the culture in the most beautiful way possible

The VOTE EP is an intentional storytelling EP that brings a new spice to the kind of music Ugoccie makes. INTENTIONAL

STORY-TELLING MELODIES. The EP is inspired by life events and stories that have happened in real-time.

Quote

“There’s no truer art than believing in yourself and bringing your seat to a table where the seats are all taken” “Stay true to your art, no one understands it better than you”

Yemi Alade reveals a dirty secret about the Nigerian music industry

Famed singer Yemi Alade has been candid about her experiences in the Nigerian music scene, stating that despite her clear success and broad notoriety, she rarely wins prizes because of her unwavering unwillingness to comply with organisers' demands for sexual favours.

The well-known "Johnny" crooner revealed that she had previously been approached by several entertainment professionals who wanted to have sex with her in exchange for promises of better prospects.

Yemi Alade, however, insisted that she has no remorse about turning down these attempts because she places a high value on her dignity. She conveyed her gratitude for her fans' constant support, saying that they stick by her even though she endures obstacles in the business.

Yemi Alade via instagram

“There was a time in the industry when everyone wanted to sleep with me and it was like, ‘Yemi, if you don’t do this, you won’t have that. Today men are the reason I don’t win awards in Nigeria,” WithInNigeria quoted her as saying.

“Going down with men was like a bridge I had to cross to get on some platforms, get some deals and even awards. When I made my decision never to engage in sexual activities for gains, lots of opportunities were automatically blocked for me.

Mama Africa has teased fans on social media with updates, revealing that her album is almost finished. She alluded to the impending release of the album by posting pictures of herself with the phrase, "Album 80% done." During an appearance on Cool FM's The Big Friday Show back in November 2023, the multi-award-winning musician had already raised expectations by hinting that she might release an album in 2024.

Yemi Alade has taken a big step on Twitter as she gets ready for her next album: she deleted all photographs from both her cover photo and profile picture. This calculated move heightens interest among her loyal supporters by hinting at the impending release of the album's cover art and title.

Dune 2: Portrays the burdens most men face in shaping their destiny

Most men lose their destiny based on two things: loving their mother more than their wife or prioritizing their wife (or even girlfriend) above their mother. However, if the universe blesses you, they will love each other and include you in their bond, though that's rare. "Dune: Part Two" portrays the burdens most men face in shaping their destiny. In just 2 hours and 5 minutes, Paul Atreides illustrates what it takes to become a man the world will follow. Join me in reviewing this movie, especially if you've watched part one of Dune. It's a must-see for fans of adventure, action, and science fiction.

You'll learn more about women in just 2 hours and 6 minutes into the movie. The director skillfully showcases a powerful message: every woman in your life wants to be included in your plans as a man. Your confidence in yourself, even when unsure of the future, determines how far you can go. Who would have imagined that Paul would unite with Chani and the Fremen while seeking revenge against those who destroyed his family? Discovering his true identity after drinking the water of life was unexpected, but it highlights how life can surprise us. Remember, when you throw stones in the marketplace, don't be surprised if they land on your family members.

Power is something most people think they understand and can be controlled failing to understand only God has such power, many genii have left the world unexpectedly, great warriors and musicians name it, but we all fail to understand no matter how you feel you can control power to your advantage it might take thousands of years the truth will defiantly be exposed. If you take your time to be open-minded while watching this movie you will find out most men are controlled by women and to those who fail or feel they don’t need women, they fail too quickly, in short, every man out there fears and respects women !!!!

To the entire team - actors, actresses, directors, producers, costume designers, lighting crew, and everyone involved in bringing this movie to life - I commend you. The graphics are mind-blowing. Who came up with all these fictions and roles to create such a captivating movie? I know it's science fiction, but for a moment, I almost believed it was real. However, 2 hours and 21 minutes felt too short and simple after all the build-up from parts one and two. Nonetheless, I love the statement made at 2 hours and 24 minutes, especially for my Duke and my friend. Batista played his role perfectly. I sense there will be a part 3 of Dune. But consider this: at 2 hours and 28 minutes into the movie, when someone says to your face, "But your father was a weak man," you have to watch the movie.

I rate it 9.5/10

The homes of rapper Diddy were raided as part of an investigation into sex trafficking.

Federal agents raided the houses of American musician Sean "Diddy" Combs in Los Angeles and Miami yesterday.

Viral videos from Monday, March 25, 2024, revealed agents from Homeland Security Investigations working out of the 17,000-square-foot house. The rapper was nowhere to be seen, but his boys were seen being led off the property in handcuffs.

The Federal Homeland Security Investigations agents and other law enforcement were searching the residences as part of an investigation into sex trafficking, two law enforcement officials told the Associated Press. The officials, however, lacked the authority to reveal specifics of the current probe in public. Furthermore, it was unclear if Combs was the investigation's primary focus.

People Magazine claims that Diddy flew from California to Antigua in a private jet. The aircraft was followed on Sunday night when it took off from Sacramento Executive Airport and touched down at Palm Springs International Airport approximately one hour later.

His plane took off from Palm Springs and landed at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles an hour later. The plane then took off from the airport in California on Monday morning and touched down in Antigua at around nine in the morning.

Diddy was seen pacing at the Miami airport following the raids, though it's still unknown if he was on the plane.

This all began when his ex-girlfriend Cassie accused him of sexual assault and frequent physical violence while they were dating. Cassie further claimed in the paper that his employees frequently saw the abuse.

His group settled out of court with Cassie while refuting the accusations.

After battling kidney illness, veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor passes away.

Muonagor recently requested financial support from Nigerians for a planned kidney transplant in India.

Nollywood has seen another death, as legendary actor Amaechi Mounagor has reportedly passed away.

The actor, who was well-known for his comedic roles, died following a protracted struggle with diabetes, stroke, and kidney failure.

On the evening of Sunday, March 24, 2024, the sad news of Muonagor's passing made its way onto the internet.

This occurs just a week after a video of the 61-year-old actor laying motionless in bed and pleading for money to support his kidney transplant went viral on the internet.

Kingsley Orji, a fellow actor, was seated next to the Nollywood icon and made a plea on his behalf.

Orji claims that the actor's kidney ailment had made it difficult for him to speak, and because they didn't have the money, they took the decision to send him home from the hospital.

Muonagor had been suffering from diabetes and a stroke, which had left him paralysed on one leg, as Orji had previously disclosed.

Last November, Hon. Tony Muonagor, the actor's cousin, shared a photo of himself on social media with the unwell actor in a hospital bed. He wrote that he wanted the public to be aware of the circumstances surrounding his family.

He went on to explain how the Nollywood icon had been fighting diabetes, stroke, and kidney problems. He said that even though Muonagor had been enjoying his life and controlling his diabetes over the years, at the time of the post, he was going to weekly dialysis.

According to Tony, Muonagor was undergoing physiotherapy and dialysis in addition to other treatments.

The actor passes away this month, joining a list of other Nollywood veterans. The most notable was the death of John "Mr Ibu" Okafor on March 2, who lost his leg due to a prolonged illness.

Is there any gap between African and African Americans?

Is there any gap between African and African Americans?

Is there a gap between Africans and African Americans? Yes, there is. Before you form your opinion on this question, remember that nobody is perfect, so be mindful of how you rationalize your thoughts based on your surroundings. With that being said, I will focus on comparing Nigeria and America. Firstly, because I am Nigerian, and secondly, because these two countries have been representing the black race or African identity worldwide for many decades. Feel free to join the discussion and share your views.

Web image of african american for description

I know I’m not the first to bring this topic to X and I know I won't be the last, but my approach is to share some questions I have heard from people since I have been here

1. Why are some Africans in America jealous of African Americans?

2. I have heard it claimed that Black Africans look down

3. How do Africans view black Americans?

4. Why do blacks from Africa seem happier and more trusting of me than American blacks? I'm a white man in America.

5. How do African Americans in the United States differ from Africans in Africa?

6. Why do some Nigerians still call African Americans “Akata” when most of us know the meaning has no good value to them

7. Why is it only African American females are dating Africans and their men are not dating Africans

I can keep going….

Everybody has their views and experiences, but how long will we continue to judge a country or its people based on a few days of travel? Africans often migrate abroad, especially to America, and one of the first things you'll hear from many Nigerians is that African Americans are lazy. My question is, have you ever taken the time to sit down and talk to them, to understand their struggles and their mental states? They may not have the family structure that we Nigerians have. On the other hand, African Americans sometimes judge us based on past issues involving our forefathers, even though we may not fully understand what happened beyond what we've seen in movies or read on Google. We all need to strive for better understanding.

Double standards exist on both sides. African American women may set lower standards when dating their men but raise those standards when dating Nigerians. Meanwhile, Nigerians may feel comfortable looking down on or downplaying ideas or conversations from African Americans, influenced by the perception that Nigerians are smart. This affects the new generation's understanding of what's right or wrong, as we fail to establish organizations where we can share our feelings without judging each other's past or present.

My review and the clip might trigger a lot of people, but I understand that lack of exposure can lead to talking down on something you haven't experienced or felt.

This is one of the reasons why all Nigerians and African Americans need to travel, visit nearby countries, and see the world not just through reading, but through feeling. Ask questions with an open mind, not impose your truth on others, or become so enamoured with the world that you neglect your own. Instead, be open-minded and appreciate black, African people around the world. We are a race that the world cannot do without.

Let's appreciate our struggles and not make them so dire that the next generation lacks any positive stories to read.

What's happening between Drake and Future? (Insight)

First, listen to Metro Boomin & Future's new song titled 'WE DON'T TRUST YOU'—it's deep and dope, especially if you're a fan. But let's dive into the first track. What's happening between Drake and Future? For those familiar with their history, please share your thoughts to validate some of the discussions in this post. Lastly, while it's hard to believe they could have a falling out, in the Nigerian music industry even our twins struggle with trust issues, who do you think reigns supreme between Drake and Future?

Listening to the first track of Future's latest album got me thinking. Check out 2 minutes and 6 seconds until 3 minutes and tell me what you feel. Let's rewind a bit: I added a snippet of the song and this tweet. It was the first time the media twisted the friendship between these men. If you know Future's history, you'll know he's an artist who avoids conflict not because he can't handle it, but perhaps because the Altanla-born rapper has seen too much already always to choose confrontation. However, this song speaks volumes. While no one knows the facts about the fight between Drake and Future, those lyrics carry value. Fake friends are everywhere. Bed talk has caused many friendships to part ways."

If you're wondering why Drake often mentions Houston in his songs, check out this edited clip and look up Jas Prince how they met on Myspace, and introduce him to Lil Wayne. You'll find more details online if you're a Drake fan. But let's refocus on Drake. He's been known to provide verses for songs but then not show up for the video shoots. How many of you remember Wizkid's song 'Come Closer'? Wizkid collaborated with Drake on 'One Dance' in 2016 but Drake failed to show up for Wizkid in 2017. A similar situation occurred with Future in 2011 when Drake didn't show up for 'Tony Montana.' Look up the song and you'll understand my point. Personally, I believe this is something Drake needs to work on.

In today's world, we all recognize Drake as a revenue powerhouse, but that doesn't diminish Future's significance. In the eyes of Generation Z, it's all about numbers and facts. If Future's latest album's first track indeed targets Drake, it adds weight to the ongoing speculation about Drake's loose lips when it comes to relationships with females.

Both icons are living legends, yet it's concerning how issues with money and relationships persist within the black community, often dragging the culture into the fray.

In your opinion, who stands out between Drake and Future? Oh, and is it true that Drake Corny?

Between Timini and Zubby, who do you consider the foremost actor in Africa?

Ebuka turns up Africa

While reviewing Timini and Zubby based on some controversial online rumours, I found myself watching 'Ebuka Turns up Africa' on Amazon Prime. It's time to expand your imagination beyond just musicians and footballers to these guys from the entertainment world. If all the materials are theirs and they are doing as well as they claim this season, I'd recommend anyone to watch it. I've only seen Episode One, featuring Ebuka, Alistair, Jimmie, Onoja, Timini, and Zubby. I know some parts are scripted, but I believe you'll enjoy it. In that spirit, that vein, between Timini and Zubby, who do you consider the foremost actor in Africa?

While most of you will dismiss this review, some will understand my perspective. The goal isn't to favour one over the other, so please set aside any Nigerian entitlement while reading this thread. Let me ask you this question: what's the primary aim of acting in a movie? It typically revolves around two things for every actor and actress: either to become well-known locally as a champion or to gain international recognition and potentially represent Nigeria to the world, like John Boyega. My focus is on Nigerian-born talents, both local and superstar: Zubby versus Timini.

Respectfully, Zubby is an icon who shouldn't be compared to Timini, considering how the movie industry was designed for him to remain relevant up to this point, where even Generation Z can appreciate his work. This review highlights his success compared to most of his colleagues. However, it's unfortunate that we live in a time of rapid change, where people easily tire of the same roles and themes. This lack of adaptability can confine Zubby to being seen only as a local champion, despite his widespread influence across Africa, not just Nigeria. His appearances with Zlatan and Burna Boy further emphasize his reach beyond local boundaries.

On the other hand, the age gap between Zubby and Timini isn't significant. I consider Zubby an icon due to his 28 years of experience in the movie industry, while Timini has only been at it for 12 years. However, don't underestimate Timini's potential to become the next RMD when the time comes. He's the only one who can fill that position, provided he doesn't jeopardize his career with his reputation as a ladies' man. When it comes to acting, I'd choose Timini over Zubby. He embodies his roles so convincingly that even viewers from outside the country can relate better to his performances than Zubby's. Before you criticize me for this, pause!!! Let me ask you: can Zubby handle any of Timini's roles? But I believe Timini could master all of Zubby's roles if he wanted to.

While everyone is entitled to their opinion, I urge you to watch this last clip from Timini. It's profound; how you carry yourself determines how the world perceives you. I believe it's time for movie actors and actresses to value themselves as they deserve. Timini is someone who envisions the future and works towards his goals, whereas Zubby seems content with his current success and doesn't fully embrace Western culture, as evident in his demeanor. I intentionally avoided discussing their wealth, as there's too much 'audio money' floating around, making it difficult to determine who is truly successful in that regard. Nevertheless, both are thriving and represent the industry admirably, both locally and internationally. If you have any additional insights, feel free to contribute to the discussion.
